Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and dedication to strengthening South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) solutions through an engagement using the agency's senior managers in a strategic scheduling session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% from the registered pupils in the schooling sector.
These learners realized a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expenditure government is making from the life of poor and vulnerable small children is yielding a favourable impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
Reflecting on the latest achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing the issue of lasting leadership appointments as well as the scarcity of staff at most neighborhood places of work.
Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the need for Neighborhood-based engagements and outreach functions.
"Our Group is expecting our enormous intensification of Group outreach, in which we prioritise underserved spots to bring products and services nearer to our people today," she reiterated.
